About Lisa

LISA GREEN AND "CENTERS IN A BAG"

I have been teaching at Algonquin School in Prospect, Connecticut for 24 years. I have always loved the idea of learning centers and use them daily in my classroom. It is my passion to make learning fun and meaningful for the children. Through my centers, children enjoy independent practice of the skills we learned during whole group instruction.

I began my business over ten years ago by presenting workshops on literacy learning centers at my school and at the Nutmeg Reading Conference in Connecticut. Soon, towns from all over the state were asking me to come and give my make-and-take workshops. I also teach a graduate course on literacy learning centers at the University of Bridgeport.

I continue to give unique workshops in Connecticut for which I make customized centers to current curriculums. I borrow the teacher's manuals and create centers that align with the programs used in each classroom. Teachers love the idea of leaving my workshops with completed centers that fit EXACTLY what they are teaching and can be implemented into the routine the very next day! Please email me for rates and availability if you are interested in a center workshop. I will need at least 2 months to prepare your custom inservice.

My learning centers usually come with three components: A center sign with child-friendly directions, manipulatives, and a corresponding worksheet.
